Polar Express Holiday Party

A note is coming home today about the Polar Express and class gifts that we will be exchanging.  We have 26 students in our class.

All of the spots have been filled to send in donations and for volunteers to help at the party.  Thank you to everyone who is willing to help and send in supplies.  If you were not able to sign up because the spots were filled, please come any way. We can always use extra hands.

We start singing in the hallways about 9:05 and then we will head in to the cafeteria for our party.  Our party will end about 10:30 so we can make it to our special on time.

Holiday Concert

Our Holiday Concert is on December 14.  K-2nd grades perform from 6:30-7:15.  3rd – 5th grades perform from 7:30-8:15.  More details will come home soon.

Star Student Lunch

Parents have asked if it’s required for them to bring lunch to their student when they are the start student.  The answer is a simple, no!  I have never had parents bring their child a lunch during our star student lunch until this year!  (lol)  As the students have gotten wind of Subway, Pizza, etc. being delivered, some of them have been telling their parents that it is a “requirement” to bring lunch.  Since the trend has been set, it is up to you and your child if you want to send in lunch when they are the start student.  However, the purpose of this time together is for the “star” and a friend of their choice to have lunch with me in a quiet environment so we can get to know each other better.

Polar Express Holiday Party

Polar Express Holiday Party

All aboard the 3rd grade Polar Express! Our party will be from 9:15-10:30 on Thursday, December 21st.  If you are interested in helping run a center on the day of the party or are willing to donate items, please click on the Polar Express picture below (for the Signup link, enter your email, and click next). We will be decorating cookies and drinking hot chocolate at the party.  We are planning crafts, games, and snacks related to the Polar Express theme and will be combining all of the 3rd-grade classes.

Also for a gift exchange, we would like each child to bring in a small item for each child in their class. Some ideas are pencils, treats, erasers, or small party items from the store. We would also like each child to bring in a box wrapped in wrapping paper. The box needs to be opened without unwrapping it (so either wrap the lid separately or choose a box with flaps that can open and close). The kids will be putting the items they brought to share in each other’s boxes. The children may start bringing them in as soon as you would like to send them. Make sure your child’s box is here on Monday, December 18th.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Halloween Party

Our class Halloween Party will be on Tuesday, October 31 from 2:30-3:30.  We have parents signed up to help with crafts and games as well as food, treats and drinks!

Please send your child’s costume to school in a bag.  The costumes can be kept in the backroom if they are too big for the lockers.  We will get dressed right after last recess.

Due to parking limitations, parties are open to parents that are volunteering to support the party. Party Volunteers: Make sure you are background checked. Keep younger siblings at home to allow for space in the classrooms. Volunteers can arrive 15 minutes before the party begins.

If you are unable to make the Halloween Party, it is ok!! 🙂  We have a very large Polar Express Christmas party that can accommodate more parents.  This party will be held on Thursday, December 21 from 9:00-10:30am.  Plus we will have a Valentine’s Day Party with Minute to Win It games that I will need extra helpers for as well.
